General Directorate Centre provides assistance in construction of a kindergarten for disabled children at the Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy

According to the official statistics, around 5,000 kids in Moscow suffer from cerebral palsy. It’s no secret, that a serious illness of a child leads to complications in their parents’ life. From 30 to 50 per cent of kids with cerebral palsy suffer from intellectual and motor impairments, as well as speech disorders, seizures and other emotional and volitional troubles. Unfortunately, many parents, who decided to keep and raise a disabled kid in a family, can hardly manage it without assistance. In spite of this, the department of municipal property of Moscow transferred in 2013 a building with total area of 531 sq. m. In the Tagansky district of Moscow (Smirnovskaya str., 3/1) to the Martha and Mary convent for the purposes of organizing of a centre for kids with disabilities. This is the only centre in Москве with a free kindergarten for children with medium and severe cerebral palsy.

The management and employees of General Directorate Centre have decided to support this noble initiative and provide the necessary support. We have donated assets for purchase of construction materials and necessary equipment.

End of repair works and opening of the centre for kids with disabilities are planned for the coming summer. Our small contribution to creation of a unique free centre will be a real help for the children, diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and will help them to overcome difficulties. And thanks to efforts of teachers and employees of the centre, children will make another step to become meaningful members of the society.
